Verified Purchase

The item I purchased was from Lapeops Macs and Tablets.
The item was recieved with a password protected bios. No USB boot and virtualization disabled.
I email the seller and they sent me a tool to boot from USB to fix it after I told them it would not boot from USB.
Meanwhile I contacted HP support and they sent me the info to fix it under certain circumstances. Unfortunately this laptop has been managed with HP Protect tools and the hp tool would not work.
So back to the seller… They finally agreed to send a replacement 3 days later. I received the replacement and it had no camera.
At this point I was rather upset.
After hours of testing I was able to finally boot to the SD card of the original machine and clear the bios and set to default.
The machine is amazing, I highly recommend buying one. Just not from this seller.

I shopped long and hard before buying a laptop, and found almost everything I wanted in the HP 8560w EliteBook Mobile Workstation.

It must be said at the onset that there is a difference between the contemporary laptops used by casual users, and mobile workstations.Mobile workstations are built to military specs, have more metal in the case, are more durable, and heavier than currently popular consumer laptops.If you’re looking for a thin, lightweight way to surf the web, chat on social media, and watch videos, then this probably isn’t the machine for you.

On the other hand, if you need something durable, reliable, and with considerable data-crunching power, the HP EliteBooks should be at the top of your list.

The system is loaded with features and ports:up to 32Gb memory (8Gb is standard); 480 Gb Solid State Drive (no moving parts!); internal wireless /and/ hard-wire modems; USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports; firewire; ports for external audio, video, and network connections; hard keys for activating wireless and audio functions; touch pad with a dual set of three mouse buttons to accommodate just about any mousing style; backlit keyboard available as an option; and a built-in fingerprint scanner.The screen has excellent resolution and about 16" (diagonal) viewing area; keyboard has a nice, positive feel, with full-sized keys and a full-scale number pad.

The build has a very solid feel, and the massive metal hinge on the screen looks like it could last forever.Latch is well made, and smooth functioning.Both black and brushed aluminum finishes are available (I have black).My unit includes a CD/DVD/Blu-Ray drive (a rarity, these days), but that can be easily replaced with a second hard drive or SSD, if desired.Due partly to the optical drive, the unit is a bit thicker than many laptops, about 1.5".

Both battery replacement and memory upgrading are simple and intuitive.

Battery life is adequate, but not exceptional.The 2.3 GHz Core i7 CPU and NVIDIA video chipset are a bit power hungry.Still, I’ve gotten about four solid hours our of a charge, and the battery pack seems to recharge exceptionally fast, even when the system is in use.A secondary external battery pack is available as an option, and more than doubles the amount of time the system can operate on batteries alone.

I’m happy with the solidity of the unit, and OK with the thickness and weight (about 7 pounds), but I wish I could have gotten a smaller, old-format 14" screen.That would make the unit 3" narrower, and eliminate the number keypad from the keyboard, which I don’t find really necessary.But those days, I suppose, are gone.

One caveat is that while most of these systems will support Windows 8 and Windows 10, they don’t have a touch screen, and generally come with Windows 7 Pro pre-installed.For me, this was fine, since I’ve always felt that it was kind of dumb to be putting fingerprints all over your screen all the time, and Windows 7 is a more solid and user-friendly OS than later MS offerings.Nonetheless, some people might be bothered by these things.
Something else to watch for is that most of these systems have a 64-bit operating system.In terms of computing power, this is a good thing, and typical for moderate-to-high end systems designed to do real work, rather than just provide entertainment.Be aware, however, than not all 32-bit (or earlier) applications will install or run on a 64-bit system, and you may have to upgrade some of your favorite software.

That aside, this is one well-built, solid, workhorse of a system, and highly recommended for those who need that kind of power and durability.

First Elitebook and I love the product

I just got this product for a steal at $650 refurbished and I love it.What people need to remember is this is not a laptop, it’s a mobile workstation.This is thick and feels very solid.If you want to walk around w/something you’re better off w/a tablet in this day and age anyway.Elitebooks are military grade and are tested to last in various harsh conditions, like sandblasting at it for 16 hours.This is designed to be a replacement for a desktop computer and with a docking station does a tremendous job at that.The only bottleneck is the hard drive.A 500GB 7200RPM isn’t bad, but I wanted to replace it w/a SSD to improve battery life and obviously speed.Another perk to this machine is the bottom panel has a quick release latch to make it easy to switch out parts w/much less effort.I’d also like to point out the touchpad is also quite smooth and feels like a quality touchscreen.Trust me all touchpads are not created equal.In any case, I plan to keep this machine for years to come!

I bought this laptop to to do my CAD work while on the go.I have to say that this machine handles SolidWorks better than my desktop ever did.I find my self using the laptop instead of the desktop.Some key things that should be done to the laptop after you buy it is up grade the RAM.This puppy can handle 32GB!!!!! Also, add a solid state drive.My laptop literally take 3-4 seconds to boot up.Its quicker to reboot the computer that to resume, crazy right?One this that you should know, this laptop is a beast.It’s heavy but very solid.I feel that it will last awhile before i need to replace it.As for the price, I paid $800 which is a steal.Comparable computers from best buy or Fry’s would have sold for $2000+ and they don’t even have the 2GB quadro video card needed for the professional applications I run.In short, get it.

This laptop is amazing. I am a junior in college and it works for school and for home. I can carry it around with me, no problem. I was worried it would be too heavy and bulky but it feels just right. I love the backlit keyboard and the DVD drive. I love the screen resolution and the way the computer sits in my lap. The speakers sound great as well, and you can always attach an audio to make them even louder. I highly recommend this computer for its price and quality. It is super fast and I never had a faster computer. It is perfect for school work and typing papers! The only complaint is that the DVD drive doesn’t play Blu Ray.
