At first I was worried about purchasing a Dell computer. In the past i had stuck to MSI and HP. But i was in need of a new PC and wanted one that had the best performance for the price. The Alienware X51 exceeded my expectations. It runs great. I am able to play games like start wars battlefront on max setting with ease and little strain on the PC. The only issue i had is that windows 10 sucks. which is not the X51's fault. You need to make sure that when running games you are not using the intel graphics which of course will not play most games. Youre going to have to install nvidia geforce and update your driver to the latest version which is not difficult at all. Also, im sure this is an amateur mistake but if youre using an hdmi cable to connect your pc to a TV instead of a monitor, make sure you plug it into the graphics card HDMI port, which is the bottom port. (there are two HDMI ports, one at the top and one at the bottom). If your monitor is not connected to the graphics card HDMI port then the PC will not use the graphics card and instead run off of the intel graphics. I would purchase this PC again 10/10 times.

After generally being a Dell fan and having purchased at least 2 desktops and 1 laptop prior to this, I'm so disappointed with this purchase.I should have returned this while I had the chance.It was causing problems within the first 3 months, and I've spent the last year trying to debug an onslaught of issues.Being an engineer, I've fallen into the trap of fixing my way through problems, but I think I received either a particularly bad unit or a poorly designed product.Between faulty memory, bad wifi componentry, terrible windows10 execution, and a problematic alienware settings controls, this product has caused so many headaches.Really sad where the PC business is right now 🙁

It looks really cool, and worked out of the box, but I felt like the performance was very underwhelming for the price. They even gave a decent mouse and a nice keyboard for free with this.
I've decided to return it after encountering low fps on high-ultra settings on a few of my favorite games (that I used to play on my $700 personally built computer from 2014) and will be buying parts to build a computer.

If you are looking for an out of the box gaming experience and don't mind throttling your graphical settings, this computer would be for you.

EDIT: Before I returned it the computer was freezing a few minutes after booting into Windows... So I had to reinstalled Windows 10 before returning it.

This is a really good value for a Windows 10 Desktop. Take it from someone who builds them. You can get on your network and do all the things you need to do... the only thing it won't do for some reason is join a HomeGroup. I've yet to find out why.

The AX51R3-5510BLK that I bought is the i7-6700 with the GTX960. I let the setup complete, then ran Windows Update again to pick up the current updates that the setup didn't install. Then I installed the latest Nvidia drivers. Regardless of when the machine was assembled and boxed, the most recent drivers from Nvidia were only a week old. Afterwards I installed Doom via Steam and took it for a test spin.

While it was technically playable on Ultra graphics settings, there were enough stutters and fps lags that I reset to custom and tweaked some of the settings within Doom, mainly reflections and particle graphics. The result was smooth, beautiful graphics between 45 and 60 fps at 1920x1080. With current updates and drivers the computer is stable. I did not experience any of the noise problems that other reviewers have mentioned, but ymmv.

Still, if I had to do it over again, I think I'd buy a CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Supreme instead. It's about $70 more, but for the money you get a 4.0Ghz 6700K instead of the 3.4Ghz 6700, the GTX970, which is VR-ready (the GTX960 is not), and a 128G SSD as the system drive, for a slight OS speed boost and much quicker system starts.The CyberPowerPC reviews are also generally favorable.

I'm not knocking the Alienware performance at all, just the price/performance ratio. There's a premium for the Alienware brand.
